Zur Kontroverse der medizinischen Genderdysphorie-Behandlungen

Die Journalistin Jennifer Block (BMJ Investigations) produzierte einen investigativen Dokumentarfilm über eines der derzeit umstrittensten Themen. Es geht um die Beweise politischer Einmischung und um die Behauptungen einflussreicher MedizinerInnen, die der Öffentlichkeit immer wieder versichert haben, dass die sog. trans-affirmative Standard-Versorgung von Minderjährigen evidenzbasiert ist:

„We explore troubling revelations about how the medical guidelines for gender treatments in youth, which physicians trust and follow, which are presented to patients and families as vetted and sound, and which the media and wider public interpret as settled science, were not developed with scientific rigor or honesty. In fact there is hard evidence of direct political meddling – by the same physician leaders who have reassured the public over and over again that this life altering protocol is evidence-based."

Jamie Reed – war Case-Managerin in einer führenden amerikanischen Gender-Klinik, die sich an die Richtlinien der World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) hält und ist 2023 zur Whistleblowerin geworden.

„Families couldn't know that these guidelines are not of true value because I didn't know that. I went into this care thinking WPATH SOC7 was a wellestablished research-based standard of care that had decades of real evidence behind it. And that's just not the case.“
Hilary Cass – mittlerweile Baroness Cass – ist eine renommierte britische Kinderärztin, die von 2018–2024 die sog. Cass-Überprüfung der Behandlung von genderinkongruenten Minderjährigen beim englischen Gesundheitsdienstleister NHS leitete.

„This area in children's gender medicine was just strikingly weak compared to almost any other area that I've looked at. So, it was a sort of standout in terms of the weakness of the evidence. For example, there's no evidence that puberty blockers are lifesaving that there is a reduction in suicidality for young people when they go on to puberty blockers. This population of young people is a group that is at risk, but they're at risk because of a whole series of complex issues going on in their life."
Hannah Barnes – Autorin des Bestsellers Time to Think, der den Aufstieg und Niedergang des Londoner Tavistock GIDS (Genderklinik für Jugendliche) ausführlich darstellt.

„That's how many European countries are reacting. For instance, Sweden issued guidance in 2022 restricting treatments for minors based on the finding that the risks outweigh the benefits. Those guidelines got high praise from Cass's review while WPATH got low marks raising quote serious questions about the reliability of current guidelines. Since then even more questions have been raised. “
Zhenya Abbruzzese – ist Gesundheitsforscherin, Mitbegründerin von Society of Gender Based Medicine (SEGM). Ihre viel beachtete Publikation, The Myth of "Reliable Research" in Pediatric Gender Medicine stellte die Behauptung infrage, dass die medizinischen Transitionsbehandlungen Minderjähriger auf einer soliden wissenschaftlichen Grundlage basieren. Er trug zur internationalen Debatte darüber bei, wie eine angemessene Behandlung dieser Jugendlichen sein sollte.

„They're stating very clearly that they're being advised by social justice attorneys that are fighting lawsuits and they're also talking directly about the need to compel insurance companies to cover these interventions and to consider them medically necessary. And so every decision is not in pursuit of science or evidence-based medicine but for two main goals: One is how to compel insurance companies to cover the interventions and two is how to win lawsuits. “
Laura Edwards-Leeper – Psychologin und Gründerin der ersten pädiatrischen Gender-Klinik der Vereinigten Staaten in Boston, heute praktiziert sie privat. Sie war Mitglied des Ausschusses, der die WPATH-Richtlinien für Jugendliche verfasst hat.

„We initially had age recommendations in in the standards of care. We changed them from what they had been in the previous version, but we all had agreed on that being an important piece to include. … Then … we were being strongly encouraged to remove the ages … There was some discussion around it being in part due to the American politics and a lot of us pushed back hard on that but in the end it seemed that there wasn't anything we can do about it. “

„I as a child ticked every single box and no one to this day has been able to tell me how they distinguish between children that would grow up to be gay and so-called trans children. This is a coopting of a very common homosexual experience in protogay youth and it's being medicalized.“

„Seeing the corruption seeing the manipulation on the part of the medical organizations and it's sort of smoking gun emails that are very difficult to to ignore. It starts to appear as if the clinicians and researchers are more committed to the treatment model than they are to the patient. And that's extremely dangerous, right?“
