Zur Kontroverse der medizinischen Genderdysphorie-Behandlungen

„We explore troubling revelations about how the medical guidelines for gender treatments in youth, which physicians trust and follow, which are presented to patients and families as vetted and sound, and which the media and wider public interpret as settled science, were not developed with scientific rigor or honesty. In fact there is hard evidence of direct political meddling – by the same physician leaders who have reassured the public over and over again that this life altering protocol is evidence-based."
Inside the fight over gender treatments in youth, YT, J. Block, 08.07.2025
Außer Jennifer Block, die 2023 den bekannten BMJ-Beitrag Gender dysphoria in young people is rising – and so is professional disagreement schrieb, kommen zu Wort:
-
„Families couldn't know that these guidelines are not of true value because I didn't know that. I went into this care thinking WPATH SOC7 was a wellestablished research-based standard of care that had decades of real evidence behind it. And that's just not the case.“
-
„This area in children's gender medicine was just strikingly weak compared to almost any other area that I've looked at. So, it was a sort of standout in terms of the weakness of the evidence. For example, there's no evidence that puberty blockers are lifesaving that there is a reduction in suicidality for young people when they go on to puberty blockers. This population of young people is a group that is at risk, but they're at risk because of a whole series of complex issues going on in their life."
-
Hannah Barnes – Autorin des Bestsellers Time to Think, der den Aufstieg und Niedergang des Londoner Tavistock GIDS (Genderklinik für Jugendliche) ausführlich darstellt.
„That's how many European countries are reacting. For instance, Sweden issued guidance in 2022 restricting treatments for minors based on the finding that the risks outweigh the benefits. Those guidelines got high praise from Cass's review while WPATH got low marks raising quote serious questions about the reliability of current guidelines. Since then even more questions have been raised. “
-
„They're stating very clearly that they're being advised by social justice attorneys that are fighting lawsuits and they're also talking directly about the need to compel insurance companies to cover these interventions and to consider them medically necessary. And so every decision is not in pursuit of science or evidence-based medicine but for two main goals: One is how to compel insurance companies to cover the interventions and two is how to win lawsuits. “
-
„We initially had age recommendations in in the standards of care. We changed them from what they had been in the previous version, but we all had agreed on that being an important piece to include. … Then … we were being strongly encouraged to remove the ages … There was some discussion around it being in part due to the American politics and a lot of us pushed back hard on that but in the end it seemed that there wasn't anything we can do about it. “
-
Lauren Leggieri – Co-Executive Director der LGB Courage Coalition zusammen mit Jamie Reed.
„I as a child ticked every single box and no one to this day has been able to tell me how they distinguish between children that would grow up to be gay and so-called trans children. This is a coopting of a very common homosexual experience in protogay youth and it's being medicalized.“
-
„I'm sorry. I'm not giving interviews right now. Thank you, though. You think HHS should be involved in in medical guideline development? Not giving interviews, but it's very nice to meet you. Thank you.“
- Moti Gorin – Professor für Philosophie und Bioethik, Universität Pennsylvania
„Seeing the corruption seeing the manipulation on the part of the medical organizations and it's sort of smoking gun emails that are very difficult to to ignore. It starts to appear as if the clinicians and researchers are more committed to the treatment model than they are to the patient. And that's extremely dangerous, right?“
„I searched out a diversity of viewpoints and expertise, looked at primary sources, and methodically separated rhetoric from fact. And what I found is what every other serious journalist and systematic evidence review to date has found: the mantra that puberty blockers, hormones, and surgery are 'lifesaving' 'evidence-based' and 'medically necessary' is based on professional consensus without strong evidence."
Sie recherchierte weiter und fand darüber hinaus:
„I have met parents who were told by medical professionals that if they didn't get behind medical transition they would have a dead child. They were not told about long term consequences, about the literature on identity development, or about the strong correlation between gender nonconformity in youth and same sex attraction (i.e. many kids who are today identifying as trans would in other eras grow up to be gay adults without medical treatment that affects their sexual and cognitive development). They were not given an honest account of what's known and unknown about this protocol. And some were even shamed for expressing concerns or doubt.“
Anfang 2023 veröffentlichte Jennifer Block den sehr bekannt gewordenen Investigativbericht
Gender Dysphoria in young people is rising – and so is professional disagreement, J. Block, 23.02.2023

This is the kind of pressure outlets are under: Leaders of @TheBMA, which owns @bmj_latest, are still publicly "challenging" my February pediatric gender Rx investigation for "lacking DEI awareness," with a perfunctory nod at BMJ's editorial independence. https://t.co/FsKv1QpcAA pic.twitter.com/IPc8G5Txm5
