Anderson: GAT ist ein Kunstfehler!
Erica Anderson, Expert (klinische Psychologie und Ex-WPATH-Vorstandsmitglied) für genderdysphorische Jugendliche in Californien, äußerte sich im April 2022 erneut skeptisch zum weitverbreiteten Affirmation-only-Trend, der Vorgehensweise, die auch als GAT (Gender-Affirmative-Treatment) bezeichnet wird:
“And so for some providers to say, ‘We’ll just accept what they say and give them the hormones’, I think is tantamount to malpractice.”
Anderson, selbst im höheren Erwachsenenalter transitioniert, sagt, dass die meisten Jugendlichen nicht 'Transgender' seien, sondern dass sie - von Influencern auf TikTok und Youtube beeinflusst - Identitäten ausprobieren würden und dabei besonders anfällig für Gruppenzwang seien.
„To me they still seem radical because I know what gender transition can do. I know what sex hormones can do on a body that has gone through the puberty that was preprogrammed and now is being subjected to cross-sex hormones. And the consequences are irreversible and highly consequential”.
Anderson kritisiert auch ihren Berufsstand sowie die Gender-Experten:
„I don’t know where everyone has lost their way: medicine and psychology are driven by individual evaluation and diagnosis. To abdicate that, I think, is a serious, serious error.”

Anderson sagte auch, dass sie besorgt sei, dass die medizinische Transition für zu viele Mädchen mit Körper-Problemen in der Pubertät zur Standardentscheidung geworden sei, bei der die Gefahr bestehe, dass sie nicht zur Linderung der Dysphorie beitragen.
Girls have a harder time with the physical and emotional changes that come with the onset of puberty. And I think there is an element of truth that males have it better in many quarters of society than females. Kids do try things on and not everything sticks. They experiment, I do not believe that we have an obligation to accept at face value everything a young person says to us.
